A gift from Lindsey

A few weeks back I recieved a surprise package from my bestie in Washington. I just want to take a second to give a shout out to Lindsey (Hermana Grimes) my awesome sister. Lindsey has been a huge support to me. Linds encourages me to follow my dreams and not give up, she also has been with me every step of the way through some of my hardest experiences. Even a billion miles away (okay...not really) she is still their for me expressing encouragement, telling me I deserve better, and reminding me every week that I am an amazing and beautiful sister! Gosh...I love her! She reminds me that I am important and those who's actions express otherwise should be shot! Ha, those might be my words but still...we get eachother! Linds, has to be the most thoughtful person I know. Lindsey is always thinking of others and wants them to feel extra special. She makes people feel so loved by her actions. One of her favorite things to do for people is give gifts. Here's what came to my doorstep at a time I needed to talk to her the most.

This was the ultimate package for a girl to get over a break up. The package was filled with various items and specific instructions...
I am not even going to try and summarize Lindsey's creativity...so here it goes. My package included:
1. A box of Tissues- "your allowed to cry and be sad. It's okay, you just got your heart broken but dont let it last to long."
2. A chick flick movie "Watch a chick flick, eat some junk and MOVE ON"
3. An Eraser " Delete him as a friend on facebook and block him.
4. A chewey granola bar "Dont compare yourself to not having a boyfriend to those around you that do. It's a small fact of life that some friends are going to married before others. You only marry on person so in the end who gives a CRAP at how many boyfriends you have/had or how many dates you went on. What matters is the one boy who you end up with". "Chews Wise."
5. Matches "Get rid of notes and pictures hanging on to them is just re-living the memories. You can move on if your still stuck in the past."
6. A people magazine "Know you have so many People on your side."
7. Peanut M & M's  "Have someone goes to his apartment and kick him where it counts and say YOU KNOW WHY. '' (I think this one is my favorite!!)
8. A package of gummy worms, and coin candies " Give other people a chance. Find yourself some wierdos you need a good laugh and some funny stories. You have to dig before you can find the treasure. Do Some Digging."
9. Jerky "FACT: HE IS A JERK"
10. Nivea chapstick "Prepare you lips for better things to come" :)
11. Shampoo "Wash him right out and let yourself have fun. You Deserve It."

Ta-Da that's it...Isn't she so creative? This totally made my day! How cute is this package?
Lindsey is the best! She is an awesome sister and I have no idea where I would be without her love and support. Also, guess what today is?! Lindsey's half way mark...today she has been out 9 months! Wahoo!
Let the countdown begin!

One year later and another One big white envelope

Just around this time a year ago the Grimes family was in Saint George as Lindsey opened a very big white envelope. Last night was no different from that moment......
.................................................................................

except the fact that it was Steven's turn. Did I fool any of you in the above picture?? Ha probably not cause let's be serious that would be a funny joke. Plus I have been telling everyone about steven's good news all week because I have been so dang excited. Good one nea! Last night was a party, family and friends filled our family room as the much anticipated call was opened. Steven has been called to labor in the Santiago Chile East Mission! He will report to the Missionary Training Center on May 9th. We may have all freaked out just a bit! Just a short two months away. Steven is so excited and spent the whole night researching the country of Chile and saying his mission over and over again. To say he is excited and ready to go I think is an understatment.

Way to go Steven!! I am so proud of you. You are going to be an amazing missionary! Love ya!! :)

The night ended with a surprise phone call....

(Video is being stupid....I will work on posting it soon!)

Lindsey had no idea Steven was preparing to go a Mission and we gave her the best announcement last night. This was an awesome moment and possibly my favorite part of the entire evening!!!

My running feet are happy

True statement: when you are a runner, your feet need to be happy, simple as that. A good pair of running shoes = happy running feet. My hopes for this year is to get back into long distance running. With that being the plan I knew I needed a new pair of running shoes. My mom being the sweetheart that she is bought me an new pair of Mizuno's. I was definently not expecting this gift but I am so greatful, it was long over due.

I have found that Mizuno running shoes work the best for me, I have a funky way of running and I need extra "cushion" in certain areas of my shoe and Mizuno has done the trick.
These babies have gotten me through:
2 half marathons
1 full marathon &
a century bike ride....(it was time to retire these shoes)
So...a big welcome to my new running shoes!!

I love them!! They feel fantastic and they dont look to shabby either. (Side note: running shoes will never make a fashion statement). Although I am digging the Zebra look...in fact I love it so much I want to add this fabulous running tank to the mix. How awesome is this combination?? I'm doing it!

First run with the new shoes was on the treadmill (ugh...I hate the treadmill) the verdict is... these shoes are perfect, I have the exact support I need to keep my feet moving. To bad they dont make me run faster however, that will come with time.

25 days

Do you remember how it was once the first part of January. Well, I do. I am going to be completely honest I made myself a goal for the New Year and it has taken me this long to put it into action. My goal was to become a better, more passionate runner. I used to love running, I actually still do but it sadly has become a low priority in my life. I got to thinking and I kept asking myself why? Why on earth would I put something I love doing aside. I decided I was going to change that this year and my proof is going be right here. Wahoo!! Lets all start love running!! Since I have been slacking I proudly tell you that today was my first run of the year and it has only taken me 25 days (pathetic, I know). Other than the fact that it has taken me this long it was great.
My alarm went off disgustingly at the below time. Is it human to get up this early?? I am girl who LOVES my sleep so to me waking up this early may or may not have been insane.

However, I did it and it felt great. I am kind of a slow poke right now and I am no where close to my goal but it's a start. I felt accomplished and chipper all day! I love Endorphins!!

On a side note I was spending my day at UVU like I usually do and at the end of my day I walk up a large chunk of staires so me being the person that I am decided to count them. Guess how many staires I walk to get from my last class to the parking lot?? One hundred and fourteen. If that doesn't start doing something to my quads I dont know what will.

PS: Today I went to my favorite place of all time to go grocery shopping. Guess where that happens to be...My mom's pantry
I love it...Best thing Ever!! Thank, mom

A Sunday dinner gone wrong

Today I got home from church and was looking for some good food to eat. Nothing in the cupboard was looking appetizing. Im am sure everyone can relate to this feeling. Then all the sudden everything I didnt have sounded so good. Food items such as:
1. A home cooked meal from my mom (always my #1 choice)
2. Panda express. I have been on this chinese food kick for the past while, Im not sure why...but I wont complain.
3. A cafe rio pork salad
4. Subway...so simple
After the above list was made I realized within 20 minutes or less I could reach all of these places and be one happy girl. However, since it's sunday, and I dont really have the budget to be spending extra money on food and I was to lazy to leave my warm apt, I decided to once again look through my cupboard of boring food. I stumbled across some chicken and rice and that was just gonna have to do.
I began cooking my chicken then started my rice. My mom about a week ago informed me I could just cook my rice in the microwave. I did this for the first time last week. Yes, Im slow. Anyway it turned out perfect and I was so proud of myself. With that being the case I decided once again to quickly cook my rice in the microwave. Last time I had way to much rice for one person, I felt like an Asian I ate rice everyday that week. So, me being the genius that I am decided to half it. How perfect! The measurments were right the only thing I did wrong was stick half the amount of rice in the microwave for the same amount of time. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Well by the time the timer goes off my rice looks something like this....
Only worse. The top layer looked similar to this but the bottom was just black. Gross, I know.
I was to embarrassed at the time to take a picture so thanks to google images I have the above visual aid. My rice and tupperware container were immediantly taken to the outside trash can. I had my chicken but no rice...BOO! I had no rice due to the fact that my rice became rice crispies....literally. Epic fail!
