No early work day...so it started with a race

Our local city put on a free 5K this morning. I of course had to take advantage of a free race so I recruited the sister and some friends and we ran around the streets of American Fork bright and early this morning.

We had a good time! Right now running still feels "hard" and I have become quite humbled as I get back into it. However, I am loving these free races that are allowing me to train and put myself back into running shoes. Its slowly coming back and I look forward to my upcoming summer training.

After the race I went home and went back to bed. If I have a day off of work I am going to enjoy it by getting myself some extra sleep! I then just spent the rest of the day being lazy which was perfect.

Happy Memorial Day!

What a great day to reflect and remember those men and women who have and who are serving for this great country. I appreciate their personal sacrafice for the freedom we all now enjoy. May these men and women continue to be in our everday thoughts.

Bookin it for Boobies

Today I ran my first 5k of the season.

It was the Susan G. Komen race for the cure Salt Lake City!

Thousands gathered this morning at Liberty Park in Salt Lake City and...I was lucky enough to be in the crowd.
Did you know that every 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Also the
American Cancer Society estimates that in 2012, about 226,870 women will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer and about 39,510 will die from breast cancer. These are not good odds! So...what was done today??
Today... we were all fighting..."fighting against breast cancer!"

At the starting line.... (getting ready to "Fight like a girl"....that's the only way to do it!)

after the race, built ford TOUGH!
My cute friend Jessica and I did the race together!
Ford was one of the many sponsors for this 5K.
Jessica works at a Ford dealership and they hooked us up with these cute t-shirts and payed our registration fee. It was awesome and I was super grateful! This 5k was not timed. Which was good for me. At this point in time I dont think I am ready to be competitive so it was nice to have a relaxed race. I was able to just get out there and enjoy every aspect of running. It was a great run! Now, Im excited to get back into racing. (I forgot how much I loved it )
This was one of the funnest experiences I have had running a 5k. The organization for this event was awesome, the route was great, and of course the crowd topped it all!
This 5k will most definitely make it on my list of races for 2013. I can't wait to do it again!

A gift from Lindsey

A few weeks back I recieved a surprise package from my bestie in Washington. I just want to take a second to give a shout out to Lindsey (Hermana Grimes) my awesome sister. Lindsey has been a huge support to me. Linds encourages me to follow my dreams and not give up, she also has been with me every step of the way through some of my hardest experiences. Even a billion miles away (okay...not really) she is still their for me expressing encouragement, telling me I deserve better, and reminding me every week that I am an amazing and beautiful sister! Gosh...I love her! She reminds me that I am important and those who's actions express otherwise should be shot! Ha, those might be my words but still...we get eachother! Linds, has to be the most thoughtful person I know. Lindsey is always thinking of others and wants them to feel extra special. She makes people feel so loved by her actions. One of her favorite things to do for people is give gifts. Here's what came to my doorstep at a time I needed to talk to her the most.

This was the ultimate package for a girl to get over a break up. The package was filled with various items and specific instructions...
I am not even going to try and summarize Lindsey's creativity...so here it goes. My package included:
1. A box of Tissues- "your allowed to cry and be sad. It's okay, you just got your heart broken but dont let it last to long."
2. A chick flick movie "Watch a chick flick, eat some junk and MOVE ON"
3. An Eraser " Delete him as a friend on facebook and block him.
4. A chewey granola bar "Dont compare yourself to not having a boyfriend to those around you that do. It's a small fact of life that some friends are going to married before others. You only marry on person so in the end who gives a CRAP at how many boyfriends you have/had or how many dates you went on. What matters is the one boy who you end up with". "Chews Wise."
5. Matches "Get rid of notes and pictures hanging on to them is just re-living the memories. You can move on if your still stuck in the past."
6. A people magazine "Know you have so many People on your side."
7. Peanut M & M's  "Have someone goes to his apartment and kick him where it counts and say YOU KNOW WHY. '' (I think this one is my favorite!!)
8. A package of gummy worms, and coin candies " Give other people a chance. Find yourself some wierdos you need a good laugh and some funny stories. You have to dig before you can find the treasure. Do Some Digging."
9. Jerky "FACT: HE IS A JERK"
10. Nivea chapstick "Prepare you lips for better things to come" :)
11. Shampoo "Wash him right out and let yourself have fun. You Deserve It."

Ta-Da that's it...Isn't she so creative? This totally made my day! How cute is this package?
Lindsey is the best! She is an awesome sister and I have no idea where I would be without her love and support. Also, guess what today is?! Lindsey's half way mark...today she has been out 9 months! Wahoo!
Let the countdown begin!

One year later and another One big white envelope

Just around this time a year ago the Grimes family was in Saint George as Lindsey opened a very big white envelope. Last night was no different from that moment......
.................................................................................

except the fact that it was Steven's turn. Did I fool any of you in the above picture?? Ha probably not cause let's be serious that would be a funny joke. Plus I have been telling everyone about steven's good news all week because I have been so dang excited. Good one nea! Last night was a party, family and friends filled our family room as the much anticipated call was opened. Steven has been called to labor in the Santiago Chile East Mission! He will report to the Missionary Training Center on May 9th. We may have all freaked out just a bit! Just a short two months away. Steven is so excited and spent the whole night researching the country of Chile and saying his mission over and over again. To say he is excited and ready to go I think is an understatment.

Way to go Steven!! I am so proud of you. You are going to be an amazing missionary! Love ya!! :)

The night ended with a surprise phone call....

(Video is being stupid....I will work on posting it soon!)

Lindsey had no idea Steven was preparing to go a Mission and we gave her the best announcement last night. This was an awesome moment and possibly my favorite part of the entire evening!!!
